Gross, but need help - for diarrhea? Hello, I'll try to add that info as necessary, but if I forgot something please do not hesitate to ask. I'm 25 years old, underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2003 and have lost (still losing) 150 lbs. For about two years after surgery I keep switching between diarrhea and constipation and I was wondering why it could be. I have not changed my diet up. Saddles (when I have them) are watery, runny nose and I get cramps like I still need go.They are discolored, but only because I am .. daily iron I think. When I go, I gotta go it hurts so badly. It happens mostly in the early part of my day long. I have also been recently diagnosed suffering from anemia. I had blood in my stool once before, but not recently. If a colonoscopy and he came back. An endoscopy showed that I Barrett (sp?) Esophagus. So, I started having pain in his lower back and I was wondering if this could be linked. In case you were wondering, my normal diet is rich in proteins. Anything else please do not hesitate. Could it just be IBS?
hmm could be IBS or Chrones disease (not sure of the spelling) ...
It certainly could be IBS. And it is not "fair" about it. I have IBS and chronic it is not fun. Have you talked to your doctor about this? I mean, you must have a colonoscopy, but I mean, really complains of pain? I finally bitched to my doctor so I had a prescription for BENTYL, who stopped all my stomach cramps and it's wonderful! Now I have a lot more diarrhea, but without the pains and cramps, it is not nearly as miserable.
Also, increasing the amount of fiber in your diet can help a lot. I started drinking those shots little yogurt (DanActiv) and eating more oatmeal. I am sure you must have a diet very proscribed because of your bypass, but perhaps you could start including some oat bran in your diet? Or substitute oatmeal flour whenever you would normally use? More importantly, learn what foods are best for you. For me, the salad is the worst! Any type of salad green just goes through me. No good news for trying to lose weight, but hey!
