Black Tie Invited

I am 25 years (women) and I am attending the wedding of a friend / colleague in mid-August. The invitation said "black tie invited." Can someone please post examples of appropriate dresses in stores for this event? Also please note that I am working with pretty limited funds, so not too expensive if you please. Thanks!

Black tie usually means a plain black dress, nothign too flashy or revealing, and nothing of any white because away from the bride:
