Renaissance Man Anthony V. Pugliese III is larger than life. And it's not a question of size. It was only because of its achievements, visions scanning and art appreciation.
To learn Pugliese is that the feet and inches do not matter - the personality and intellect that father-to-earth earth - and accomplished businessman - act of his creative impulse still knows how to navigate the business world as a modern-day Magellan.
What makes it particularly unique in the business world, however, are his priorities.
"The most important things in life are family, loyalty and your word. These things are more important than anything else - the money never comes first."
Another trait that makes him a rarity in the business world is his innate ability to create. As an art student at the Arts High School in Newark, New Jersey, he studied mechanical drawing, painting and design. But instead of going to college Pugliese did what came naturally - he went swimming in the business with his father, Anthony V. Pugliese Jr.
"In winter, you could not build pools so we started rehabbing vacant buildings in northern New Jersey, Newark. Then we started buying industrial parks and office buildings, "said the father of four children.
It was not long before the business skills and unlimited Pugliese led to South Florida. It has invested in buildings in Boca Raton, Delray Beach and the Florida Keys. Pugliese also found a site that has married her right brain creativity with left brain analytical. And the results were quite spectacular.
"We designed a 135,000 square foot building in Boca Raton, who won the 1986 National Association of Office & Industrial Parks Award. We also won an award for best brochure design for an office building, he said (he uses the collective we very often as a way to integration).
Crystal Corporate Center on Military Trail may have been rewarded Pugliese of his peers, but he has his philosophy and a pledge of honor that he continues to collect humble disciples and colleagues. "I've never met a person who is most brilliant of all the ways and areas of life. It is a kind of Guy handshake, his word is his honor," said Mel urban CSS Design and Construction, Inc.
If you talk to someone who knows Pugliese, you hear the same adjectives - beautiful, smart, funny, creative, productive, fair, honest, humble, friendly and a good friend. There is also a sense of fear and accomplishment in this world
He has raised millions of square feet of retail, commercial and industrial properties, holds patents in IP video technologies, electronic ticketing and self-storage system. And the latest acquisition Pugliese (or prodigy real estate) is a project known as Destiny. This luxurious 41,300 acres in central Florida (three times the size of Manhattan) was announced as the first eco-sustainable community. Destiny's motto is to conserve, recycle and preserve - and his ambition and motto seems to be borrowed from the playbook Al Gore.
"We'll change the way people are living in destiny, they will be able to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle," said the proud papa of this huge project that will house 250,000 people. The Destiny brochure reads "Land is our past, our present and our future." And according to Pugliese, sprawling congestion is not what he is after, but something more in scope. "It is our vision for a major piece of old Florida virgin is saved by maintaining the part of tens of thousands of acres of land we have called Destiny.
But this is not the only thing he does with his time. Pugliese collects rare slices of pop culture which truly reflect time and space. He had fedora Marlon Brando in the film "The Godfather", the witch hat worn.
