well idk what you mean by "like everybody else does" because idk if the way I wear mine is how the people where you live, where they are ... but anyway I just fold in half, put it around my neck, then put the end thats not looped in the circle of the end loop is

but u can try a belt? OMG such a pretty dress, sorta plain, perhaps a mini-jack ... and then tie it around your waist like this
