Children with hearing aids and winter hats? My daughter has BTE hearing aids and this is the first year really shes outside during the winter to go to pre-K and all. If she wears a hat of hearing aids give a bad misjudgment. I want her to keep the head warm with a hat, but I do not want her to go outside without the AP and not be able to hear. How do you manage that?
Talk to people you have purchased hearing aids from. They probably discussed this before and might be able to recommend a certain style hat.
Is that your daughter does not hear at all without them? It could be the lesser of two evils to get out, then it is outside. If she can not hear his friends, then this is not a good idea.
Maybe a hat that fits his head, but headsets. You can use Velcro to keep the flaps up, but if it gets really cold and she needs it, she could pull them down.
Here's a tip I found on whatgirl.net (a website with tips for self-representation for people with hearing impairment)
This is the perfect time of year to buy a hat in winter. Look for one that perched on his head to avoid auditory feedback. The berets and newsboy caps are two good choices.
Can you find hats that cover their heads with one's ears have flaps and see if those work best?
