Outdoor Research HatsWhat are the basic necessities for a time first-Deer Hunter?

I went to Cabela's has recently done some research and going through the items.

I have to buy a Remington shotgun (probably the 700 with a range of better quality) and proper ammunition to pass the hunter ed course to receive a license, but I need to understand the wear and equipment for exploration and hunting wild success. Please correct the list with additional points for a good hunting experience without hindrance and confusion.

A jacket and camouflage pants (thicker for winter, lighter for spring / summer), shooting gloves, boots outdoor hunting socks with a wool hat or cap, the expedition compass watch , binoculars / spotting scopes, camouflage backpack (eg Camelbak hydration Ranger), large game bag, a rope to drag the deer hunting, weight and measure points, knives for dressings, rations and kits global snapshot optional GPS, digital camera option ...

During the winter, is it wise to wear bright orange vest and / or cap to warn other hunters nearby?

I read all the answers and many ideas are probably good if you listen to everything you wear too much junk in the woods.

Each hunter has a favorite set of gears. The key to successful hunting is comfortable and confident. If you're uncomfortable, you can not focus on hunting. What I mean by that?

1) too much junk lying around that you will simply get you tired and sweaty. Try a half-mile hike uphill pitch dark and you know what I mean. Once you install that will make you sweat cold. Evaluate every last part of the equipment and perform only what you use for hunting. Pass the camera and GPS, learn woodsmanship, the use of reflective markers on trees pushpin to mark your way in darkenss. Take pictures near the car! Most hunters do not venture far from the car anyway, particularly in its early stages. Skip shit extent also that you will near the car. Skip the compass and binoculars. A COMPASSS worth nothing if you have a card to go with it or know your property inside. In this case, you can also try woodsmanship skills more than anything else. Remember, we rely too much on electronics. GPS stands for spare batteries on you, adds to the mass. All electric will be a failure, I can assure you from experience. Reliability is the absolute key in all the components that you take.

2) Take a reliable weapon. Nothing larger than 270 work. Accuracy is the most important. I killed my first deer with a shotgun 25 years ago. You'll quickly discover that guns are good scope for long range, but bad for the quarter close, running deer hunting or stuffed.

3) Nobody said a viewpoint. For me, it is essential, it will increase your chances of success by 400-500%. It keeps your scent of soil, prevents you from plain view of the deer, and give you an excellent view. Choose a model of light with no moving parts. The Summit Viper is my favorite. Rock-solid reliability.

4) Avoid packpack unless you go one day. Too heavy and it will not even move when you're climbing a tree. Fanny packs are much more compact and will stay on your waist while you ride.

5) Bright orange is desirable and necessary for hunting the most public lands. It does not replace common sense. Know where all the other hunters. Stay smart, not to walk in the woods (orange or not) to 7:00 during the opening day deer or the last day of the season. Hunters generally itchiest trigger fingers afterwards. Do not walk in the bush too, some idiot hunters will hear the noise and make wihout research. When you choose your seat, keep your back in the safest direction.

In short, do the essential, and maintain your equipment religiously as an aircraft technician. Your most important tool is your common sense. It helps you mean.
